Hickory, NC - Corning Cable Systems LLC, part of Corning Incorporated's Telecommunications segment, has announced the availability of its new low-loss Plug & Play Universal System. With a maximum module loss of 0.5 dB and a total system link-loss of 1.0 dB, the system's performance will allow customers to meet the strict budgets demanded by today's systems, especially when working in 10 Gigabit environments.

Corning Cable Systems Plug & Play Universal Low-Loss Systems are preterminated optical fiber cabling systems that dramatically streamline the process of deploying an optical network infrastructure in the premises environment, particularly in data center applications. The low-loss system, consisting of modules, trunks and extender trucks, harnesses and jumpers, features MTP to LC Connector modules and harnesses with a maximum loss of 0.5 dB. The total link-loss for the complete module-trunk-module Plug & Play System is 1.0 dB.

The Universal System eliminates fiber polarity as a factor in system design, redesign or installation through its value-added wiring solution. Because of its innovative design, the Universal System has no special polarity components, avoiding the polarity problems caused by incorrect placement of modules and jumpers.

Plug & Play Universal Systems, part of Corning Cable Systems LANscape Pretium Solution, feature high-density ribbon cabling and MTP connector-based trunking for space saving and convenient fiber deployment. The systems also include a round, plenum-rated distribution cable with a smaller outer diameter that allows more room for trunk cables and easier routing in patch panels without preferential bend. The factory-terminated systems offer improved system performance, component compatibility and consistent quality.
